New Zealand travels to South Africa as the defending champions in the men's and women's tournaments after making history in San Francisco four years ago with the Black Fern Sevens and All Black Sevens.

Where will RWC Sevens 2022 be held?

Cape Town's iconic stadium will be the venue for the RWC Sevens 2022. Built for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, it was home to the HSBC Cape Town Rugby Sevens, which attracted record attendances.

The Cape Town stadium will also host all three Tests and two tournament matches on the 2021 British and Irish Lions tour of South Africa. The Springboks won the series 2-1.

In February 2020, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal attended a match in Africa and the stadium welcomed a Guinness World Record crowd of 51,954 practice tennis matches.

How many teams have passed?

Twelve teams (four women and eight men) have qualified for the 2022 RWC Rugby Sevens based on their performance in the final tournament in San Francisco.

New Zealand, France, Australia and the United States booked places in Cape Town by reaching the women's semi-finals at the 2018 RWC Sevens. Host South Africa will join them in September, having finished 14th four years ago.

An additional 11 women's teams have secured their places at the 2022 RWC Sevens through regional qualifiers. They are Japan, China, Fiji, Brazil, Colombia, Canada, Madagascar, United Kingdom, Ireland, Poland and Spain.

Meanwhile, the quarter-finalists of the 2018 RWC Sevens, New Zealand, England, South Africa, Fiji, Argentina, USA, France and Scotland have secured their places in the draw.

The identities of the 16 men's regional qualifiers have now been revealed. Hong Kong, South Korea, Australia, Samoa, Tonga, Uruguay, Chile, Canada, Jamaica, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Germany, Ireland, Portugal and Wales have secured spots in this year's competition.

What is the competition format of the RWC Sevens 2022?

Like four years ago in San Francisco, both the men's and women's tournaments will feature an innovative winner-takes-all elimination format.

The 24 men's and 16 women's teams heading to Cape Town are seeded based on points accumulated during the competition.HSBC World Rugby Sevens-serie2020 in 2022.

The men's teams ranked 9th through 24th will play in the Round of 16, where the winners of that tie will play the top eight seeds in the Round of 16.

The 2022 RWC Sevens kicks off at 08:45 local time (GMT+2) on September 9, when ninth-seeded Ireland take on Portugal in their bid to take on England in the Round of 16.

Canada then take on Zimbabwe, with the winner taking on France, before Samoa take on Uganda for a chance to play the United States, while Scotland take on Jamaica in the round of 16 against defending champions New Zealand.

Drawn in Tonga, Kenya has a chance to face Argentina before Wales and South Korea meet for the last 16 against Australia. Hong Kong then takes on Uruguay, with the winner taking on Fiji and Germany taking on Chile. The right to face South Africa in the last game of the first day.

The women's tournament kicks off at 12:11 local time (GMT+2), with the defending champions of the series and Australia taking on Madagascar. America will take overEuropean Champion Women's Sevens, Poland, for Canada vs. China and Fiji vs. Japan.

Ireland then plays against Brazil, while England plays against Spain. New Zealand takes on Colombia at 17:37 local time before the women's round of 16 ends and France takes on hosts South Africa.

What happens on the second and third day?

The following day begins at 08:15 local time (GMT+2) with the quarterfinals of the Boys Bowl, followed by the quarterfinals of the Boys and Girls Challenge.

The quarterfinals of the men's and women's championships begin at 7:07 p.m. local time.

Bowls and challenges begin and end on day three, with the fifth-place Champions Cup semi-finals starting at 10:18 local time.

At 12:07 the first semi-final of the women's championship starts, followed by the first semi-final of the men's championship.

The bronze medal finals of the women's and men's championships begin at 19:01 local time, with the women's event leading up.

Just over an hour later, at 20:17 local time (GMT+2), the Women's Championship Final and the Men's Championship Final kick off at 20:54 local time.

When and where was the first RWC Sevens held?

The inaugural RWC Rugby Sevens, featuring 24 boys teams, took place in Murrayfield, Edinburgh from 16 to 18 April 1993.

Fiji and Latvia played in the first RWC Sevens game, with Filimoni Seru scoring a hat-trick and Waisale Serevi adding 17 points as the Pacific Islanders won 42-0.

However, Fiji were beaten in the semi-final by England, who won the Melrose Cup after beating Australia 21–17 in the final.

The All Black Sevens won the Melrose Cup in Argentina for the first time in 2001 after finishing seventh and third in the first two events.

They won the final in Hong Kong four years later, then the RWC Sevens in Moscow in 2013 and San Francisco five years later.

Fiji, which won the RWC Sevens Championship twice in Hong Kong in 1997 and 2005, is one behind New Zealand. England and Wales have one title each.

What happened in 2018?

No team has ever held the RWC Sevens title, both men's and women's, but that changed in San Francisco when New Zealand won both titles in the second edition of the tournament.

The 2018 RWC Sevens brought the game to the West Coast of the United States as more than 100,000 fans, many watching a football game for the first time, packed AT&T Park.

They enjoyed an exciting weekend, in which a restructured knockout match made every game count.

For the second edition of the men's RWC Sevens, England and New Zealand were the two remaining teams in the final, with the All Blacks repeating their victory from five years ago and Merle for the third time. Rose cup.
